Thomas J. Sullivan, known to his family and friends as Tom or Tucker, passed away peacefully at his home in Milton, MA, on February 28, 2024.
Born and raised in Milton, MA to the late William M. Sullivan & Margaret E. Sullivan, Tom is survived by his long time friend and wife Ann Sullivan also of Milton. Tom is lovingly remembered by his sister Patricia M. Sullivan of Milton, his brother William M. Sullivan and his wife Denise of Cape Elizabeth, ME, his sister Katherine A. Phillips and her husband Ray of Milton, and his sister Mary E. Leonard and her husband Barry of Marshfield. Tom will always be remembered as uncle to Michael, Daniel, Regina, Carolyn, Jill, Timothy, Elizabeth, Katherine and Anna.
As an uncle, and by definition, he was attentive to the youngest members of his expanding family. He enhanced their experience of life as a place of adventure and fun. With his quick wit and infectious humor he taught magic and sleight of hand card tricks. He nurtured their ability to deliver a joke, solve a riddle, or tell a story. He joined them in swimming, hiking, skiing, and wiffle ball. An uncle with patience, he could tolerate multiple activities such as fishing and skipping stones into the same pond at the same time.
Tom was very bright, an alumnus of Boston College High School and Boston College where he earned a degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation and during the Vietnam War, he was immediately drafted into the Army, stationed at the Pentagon, where he worked in electronics with a Top Secret clearance. On completion of his military service, Tom embarked on a career as an electrician, becoming a respected member of Boston Local 103.
Tom was a man of great talents and varied interests. He built a cabin in Maine and a beautiful wooden boat in which to row the waters of Belgrade Lakes. Tom was well known to friends, neighbors, and family as a handyman. His capacity to help others knew no bounds.
As we remember Tom, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, laughter, and service. His story is not just one of a life lived but of a life shared. Tom's impact on the world was as profound as it was positive, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In honor of Tom's memory, let us hold dear the lessons he taught through his actions: to be kind, friendly, and to always be ready to help.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Milton on Friday March 8th at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Milton Cemetery.
